Many fields in the portal show Default. That means the item has no value of its own and uses the tenant setting instead. Change the tenant setting once and every account left on Default follows. Set a value on the account itself and that account stops inheriting.

This page lists each Default, the real value it picks up, and the tenant page that controls it.

Dialling and routing

  • Dial plan (extension, queue, ring group, conference) — uses Settings → General → Identity → Default dial plan. New extensions and groups are created with this blank, so the tenant plan applies from the start.
  • No answer timeout (extension call forwarding) — uses Settings → Voicemail → General → Call forward on no answer timeout. If that is also unset, the system waits 30 seconds. Keep it shorter than the mailbox pickup time below, or voicemail wins the race.

Sound

  • Music on hold source — uses Settings → General → Music & ringback → Music on hold source. The audio files themselves live under Settings → Music on hold.
  • Ringback source and Ringback when busy — use the same-named tenant settings in Settings → General → Music & ringback. They replace the system ringback for this tenant.
  • Ring melodies (direct call, transfer, added extensions) — use the three ring melody settings in Settings → General → Music & ringback.

Language, timezone, and caller ID

  • Timezone — uses Settings → General → Identity → Timezone. It drives schedules, CDR timestamps, and time-of-day routing.
  • IVR language and web language — use Settings → General → Language & locale → Default IVR language / Default web language. If those are unset, the system-wide languages apply (Voxalink support owns those).
  • From-header — uses Settings → General → Caller ID → From-header. If the tenant has none, callers see the plain calling party.
  • Address book visibility and include accounts in the phone address book — use the two settings in Settings → General → Address book.
  • Forward destinations — uses Settings → General → Redirection → Forward destinations. This filters what users may enter as their own forwarding target. Disabled stops users setting forwards at all.
  • Allow call forward to emergency numbers — uses the same-named tenant setting in Settings → General → Redirection.
  • Default duration for DND — uses Settings → General → Call handling → Default duration for DND. Desk phones use this length. The app lets the user pick a length each time.

Voicemail

All of these live in Settings → Voicemail and apply to every mailbox left on Default.

  • Time until the mailbox picks up (General) — how long calls ring first. If unset, extensions ring about 20 seconds. Use around 30 seconds if mobiles ring too, since mobile setup takes longer.
  • Maximum number of voicemails (Mailbox sizing) — the cap per mailbox.
  • Automatic deletion of messages (Behaviour) — Make room deletes the oldest only when full, After days deletes by age.
  • Mailbox explanation prompt (Behaviour) — whether callers hear the "leave a message after the tone" instructions. The built-in behaviour is to play it.
  • Play envelope information (Behaviour) — whether owners hear caller and time details before each message. An extension setting overrides this.
  • Offer calling cell phone and offer return to previous extension (Behaviour) — the choices callers hear inside voicemail.
  • Inbound and outbound T.38 (Fax) — how the mailbox negotiates fax. The separate device-side default is Settings → General → Provisioning → Provision devices to use T.38 for FAX.

Recording

  • Recording rows (incoming, internal, external, emergency on extensions; the matching rows on queues and ring groups) — use Settings → General → Recording defaults. Each direction has its own tenant switch. Unticking Default and choosing off on the account itself excludes just that account.

Queues, groups, and orbits

  • Send nightly CDRs as (queue monitoring) — uses Settings → General → CDR Settings → Send nightly CDRs as (charts, embedded HTML, HTML file, or text file).
  • Music, ringback, and dial plan on queues and groups — any picker showing Domain Default follows the tenant sound and dial plan rows above.
  • Park reminder (park orbit) — uses Settings → General → Call handling → Park reminder. The tenant default is off. Setting Turned off on the orbit itself beats even a configured tenant timer.
